Dakhla Trades and Skills City

Location: Dakhla, Morocco

Surface: 5ha

Year: 2021

The Dakhla Trades and Skills City (CMC) is positioned as a modern hub dedicated to professional training and innovation. Located on a 5-hectare site on the outskirts of Dakhla, the project design takes advantage of the site’s configuration, featuring a 200-meter main facade accessible via a 20-meter wide road.

The site layout emphasizes functional organization: the central building, which houses common areas, stands out due to its central location, while the training centers are arranged in peripheral modules. The project also includes a central agora for community events and a separate residence area for trainees to ensure greater tranquility. Exterior landscaping features green spaces to the south, enhancing the site’s integration into the landscape.

Architecturally, the Dakhla CMC adopts a contemporary approach with materials suited to local climatic conditions. The central building features a sleek structure, with facades made of prefabricated concrete panels for effective thermal insulation. The trainee residence benefits from perforated panel facades for natural ventilation. The dining hall is distinguished by large glazed openings that enhance natural lighting. The agora is covered by a lightweight metal structure, and the training centers are shaded by aluminum sunbreakers.

In terms of sustainability, the project incorporates energy solutions such as photovoltaic panels for electricity and solar water heaters. Rainwater management is optimized through collection and reuse systems, and are preferred to minimize environmental impact. Resource management includes advanced data networks and security systems to ensure efficient and secure operation.

The exterior landscape emphasizes eco-friendly materials and plantings suited to Dakhla’s desert climate, creating a functional and harmonious environment. The Dakhla Trades and Skills City thus stands as a model of modern and sustainable architecture, seamlessly integrated into its surroundings while addressing the needs for training and innovation.
